Before you begin, wet your hair and gently detangle. If you are coming out of a protective style, start by lightly misting your hair with a spray bottle instead of fully saturating it. Over-saturating tangled hair after a protective style can make tangles harder to work through. Take your time and detangle from the ends toward the roots before adding shampoo. Complete your shampoo steps before moving on to conditioner.
